Sophia Furfine is a graduate of Stanford University with a double-major in math (Honors) and classics (Latin focus). Her mathematical research explored computational complexity classes on closed timelike curves, while her classics research involved translating previously untranslated 12th century Latin scrolls.

Sophia’s pedagogical style is a combination of her foundational beliefs and the guiding questions style she honed as a former Associate Director and Curriculum Developer at Art of Problem Solving, the premier math competition training program in the USA. While there, Sophia was the sample instructor used in nation-wide videos for both 2nd grade and precalculus; one of the “keep learning” question writers; one of four curriculum developers who created the AoPS Zoom-based elementary curriculum.
